The Barton Academy for Advanced World Studies is located at 504 Government Street, will serve approximately 320 students in grades 6-9. Barton Academy was Alabama's first public school, originally constructed in 1836. The building is undergoing state-of-the-art interior renovations, and it is set to reopen its doors to students in August 2021. Barton Academy for Advanced World Studies will focus on global studies and entrepreneurship, taught through a project-based curricular approach.
